i’ve been wearing acrylic nails off and on for two years. recently when i got them done, i noticed a small dark spot on the corner of the pink part of my pinky nail. that is gone, but part of the pink part of my nail is like a white-ish color. oh i smelt it one day & it kinda smells like mildew. ew. is this a fungus?

I just noticed that on one of my big toes it looked lighter on the edge. When I investigated it further I saw I was able to pull the nail plate away from the nail bed rather easily, without pain. This has never happened before. Could it be a nail fungus starting? My husband has had a nail fungus for years. Can I get it from him?
I also have psorasis. I heard that it can cause nail problems too. Anyone else heard of this?

My boss’ wife – a manicurist – recently inferred that I have nail fungus. Was this because my nails are thick and tips white or, because my nail beds were cloudy and scuffed at the time because I had been working with a lot of heavy lyes and detergents? Natural french nails aren’t by themselves a sign of nail fungus are they? My recovered nail beds are a shiny rosy pink though yes, my tips are white and my nails are thick and will usually grow until I cut them. My nails have always been just the way they are now. My hair is long and thick, too. I always thought they correspond to each other though I may be wrong about that. (Women can be so snide…..)
