You should not apply to bare nail. Here’s a step by step instruction to use Sally Hansen nail art pen:

1. Apply base coat or polish before use.
2. Allow polish to dry completely.
3. Shake well with cap on.
4. Remove cap.
5. Push pen tip on hard surface to dispense color.
6. Apply nail art design to nail.
7. Allow to dry.
8. Recap firmly after use.
9. Seal nail with top coat when your design is complete.

Note: Don’t forget to protect work surfae while using this product.

They come in seven different colors White, Black, Light Pink, Hot Pink, Blue, Red, Silver and Gold. Work over any nail polish, and easily wipe off (smudge free) if you make a mistake.
